Statement

My work explores multifaceted self-awareness in the context of philosophical politics, social and racial liberation, sex and taboo, the importance of queer culture and the products and experiences of intersectionality. I’m best known for creating minimal, abstract prints, photomontages and mixed media collages.
My starting point invariably stems from strong opinions evoked during conversation where my hungry brain won’t be placated or satisfied until I’ve thoroughly researched, investigated and interrogated an issue or topic. I’m only motivated to create work inspired by those concepts or stories that I deem to be sufficiently novel, inadequately represented or unrecognised by the art world or mass culture.
I turn to my curated personal archive of images, music videos, album art and films, stealing and being stimulated by what sets my body alight and my heart racing. As a mixed media artist, I use my vast repertoire of materials, tools, and traditional processes unconventionally for a distinctive end result. To accomplish this I digitally and physically manipulate anything I choose, utilising papers, fabrics, markers, inks, paints, photography, editing softwares and screen printing.
Essentially, I am the instrument through which substance has to flow. Once I’m captivated, the idea must be discharged, leaving it adorned in existence to be shared with the public. Leaving me empty, open and ready to be used as a creative vessel afresh.
