Pixel Pussy

focuses on the experience of female commodification. Sex, intimacy, technology, body image and the politics it cascades within. As of 2019, 25% of men fake orgasms as opposed to 59% of women. Patriarchy has demonised, miseducated and scandalised the topic of sex and pleasure for centuries. I found women feel under pressure to solidify the sexual capabilities of men, to preserve their egos and appearances as lovers. I believe art can offer productive provocation that contributes to discussion and often the liberation of impacted groups.

I wish to inspire and encourage exploration of the body and self, beyond what is prescribed by societal authority; to snap out of whatever women are 'supposed to be doing’. Anna Tippet names this phenomenon postfeminist masquerade. “Rebranding sexism as sexiness, objectification as liberation… Focusing on sexual agency at the individual level overlooks the impact on women as a wider social group.”
